I love my new bike! At 52, I had a total knee replacement and the bike has played a major role in my recovery. Being a woman, I downloaded the assembly guide in advance. When the bike arrived I followed the directions and had no problem with assembly. The bike is quiet, comfortable and easy to program. Best money I've spent in a long time!

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

I have always walked for my exercise, until a back problem caused nerve pain that made walking impossible. Arthritis precluded a bike with arm motion. I bought the recumbent to get some cardio exercise with no back, hip, or leg stress. The best part is it's totally quiet, so I watch TV or a movie and ride away. It's keeping me in shape while I recover. I had to hire an assembler. Other than that, it's perfect: stable, fun programs and motivating stats, enjoyable, quiet, always there when I need it.

I had a treadmill before but because of foot issues I could no longer use it. I was not happy about getting a recumbent bike at first but I have been pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy using it. I love the smooth operation first of all and it is very quiet. I love the variety of programs it offers which keeps me from getting bored! And I really like not having to jump over a cross bar to get on the bike. I would purchase this bike again and would highly recommend it

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

It's a great product for people who are disabled or are going through recovery like myself. I'm recovering from hip surgery and it's design makes it easy to get on and off. If you're good with tools you shouldn't have trouble with set up. I was able to do it from my wheelchair. Only problem so far is that there was a crack on the motor casing, but so far it hasn't affected it's performance from what I can see.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

[...] The bike was so easy to assemble. It took all of twenty minutes and I needed no extra tools. The fit and finish is actually gym quality. The bike is super stable. It is made of extra heavy duty parts. If extra or replacement parts are needed they are easily available. The bike performs silently and with no impact on joints. It really supports your hips with its heavy duty seating surfaces. My gym's bike is not as good! The computer isn't a toy, it is a very useful exercise interface that allows for maximum performance and safe conditioning. The bike has an excellent flywheel that is weighted and feels like you are riding on the street. I have only praise for this bike and only good things to say about the Exercise Bike Superstore.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

This bike was a gamble...buying an exercise bike sight unseen was risky. However, from the moment it arrived to just a few minutes ago, it has been evidence of a very good decision. First, we saved a bundle buying from this site. Then, after a couple of months, it has nearly paid for itself since we could finally drop our gym membership. Having a bike at home is luxurious for oh so many reasons. No more stuffy fitness center air, filled with germs, sweat and...you get the picture. What a treat to be able to walk from the desk to the studio and ride for a half hour or so whilst watching taped television from earlier in the day. We don't have to drive in the Oregon rain during daylight hours (safety is an issue in today's society) only to find the only empty bike is next to the hairy guy who somehow manages to fling sweat nearly five feet in every direction when he rides. Now, we can hear the television or enjoy a book without dealing with someone playing rap or country on the overhead stereo system. And if that wasn't enough, now we can ride at home without having to pretend we are hard of hearing when that special someone decides I look like someone who is truly interested in what happened at the singles bar last night. We're saving so much time, money, fuel and risk. Now, on to the bike, so to speak. This bike is good looking. Too good looking to risk covering up by using it as a plant stand! [...] We'd recommend having it placed on a padded work surface so whomever actually assembles it will be comfortable. Assembly took about 3/4 hour with common household tools. Even the electrical system was a snap. Gotta say, however, we paid a handyman to assemble it due to our physical restrictions, but he commented that anyone could do it provided they have full mobility. He said the directions were not as clear as the pictures, and like others, recommended new owners should follow the photos and disregard the text. After assembly, we wheeled the bike into the studio and without even reading the operation manual, we were able to ride successfully in the Quick Start mode. NOTE: Now, a full month or so later, I have read the manual and have programmed in my personal preference. The bike is extremely quiet. In fact, the first few minutes, we thought it wasn't working! The bike is steady, creek free and a joy to ride. The seat is comfortable and the adjustable positions make it easy for either of us to use. The unit has a book rack which is also adjustable although we haven't had to do that yet. Front handle grips make my husband's interval training a snap and the heart rate monitor is right on the money every time. We've compared it to a handheld unit and believe it or not, it calibrates perfectly. The diagnostic panel can be programmed in far more ways than I can imagine necessary but since it is so simple to use, it really doesn't matter. The only change I would recommend seems to have already been incorporated into the 2009 model. This was an oddly placed AC plug...it was in FRONT of the bike, near the flywheel. This year, it is located in back, under the seat. This new location makes it easier to plug into a wall outlet and face the bike INTO the room, assuming the rider wants to watch television not look out the window. Even our flywheel plug location was easily plugged into the wall, we just had to scoot the bike back a bit. Not a big deal by any means. So, as you can see, we are thrilled with our purchase. We're getting healthier, on our own time and at our own rate, putting money in our pocket, using less fuel, staying safer at night by staying home to exercise, catching up on our reading and/or television viewing AND in a pinch, we have one heck of a good looking plant stand!

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

Both my husband and I have enjoyed this recumbent. It's easy to use and a smooth ride!
I especially like the "GOOD JOB!" message that appears when you reach your goal. Also like the walk-thru feature instead of having to hike your leg over a bar - to the young and fit - it wouldn't seem like a consideration - but we're a little bit older now and will take help when we can get it!

We have a treadmill which we've used a lot but now have some ongoing problems with feet and knees so we thought this would be a great way to be able to keep exercising.

Plus we received it in an astonishingly short time after placing the order. It's a very well made bike - we like it a lot - thank you!

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

I was tired of my treadmill and having heel problems when I decided to purchase this recumbent bike. It not only gives me the cardio workout, but allows me to work my legs without impacting my heels! This bike is practically silent, unlike my treadmill, so I can watch TV while I ride. Also, the seat is very comfortable and allows me to read if I want to. I also highly recommend the walk through design, even though I am not elderly, disabled or recovering from an injury. I love it!

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

Bike lives up to its claims. I use a few times a week and it gives me a good workout. It has several settings (programs) too keep from getting boring. I wish there was a way to prop my laptop in the book holder since I use it to watch dvd's while riding. But other than that, no complaints.

MINOR NOTE: When setting it up, be careful of the plastic shroud around the front "tire". It's easy to snap off the area where the screws hold it together (I did). It only hurts it cosmetically. The bike is heavy, but straightforward to setup.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

My wife and I both use this bike. The multiple programs and its quietness are two features we really appreciate. Adjusting the seat back and forth is easy enough, but to tighten it enough so the seat doesn't move requires you to really hand tighten it which gives my wife a little problem to loosen it after I tighten it. We researched the dickens out of bikes ranging from inexpensive ones to very expensive ones and we believe we got the a great bike! We haven't looked again since we bought it, but at the time of our purchase, about a year ago, we still believe we got a great value.

[...] great bike;[...] As for the bike, I've tried a number of bikes more expensive than the Schwinn 230. None were as quiet or as smooth to ride. From what I saw, you'd have to pay a lot more to rival the smooth ride of the Schwinn. If you move the bike around a lot, it's far lighter than most other bikes and easy to transport. Kudos to Schwinn for such a fine product and kudos to the superstore for the rapid delivery and great price.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

I have significant joint problems including knees and discovered the benefits of a recumbent bike on the advice of my physician.

Deciding I didn't want to drive the distance to the local gym plus pay the fees, I purchased the Schwinn after looking at Consumer Reports. It was not difficult to put together, works well, easy to use, fits the bill.

The only "con" I would mention is the noise from the seat mechanism which is a bit loose in the housing.

I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

This bike is as good as all of its reviews make it out to be. Sturdy, extremely smooth, and utterly silent. Nice set of features for a variety of workouts. I use it daily - primarily for general training, cardio, and weight loss - and could not be happier with it. Assembly is straightforward, thanks to the extremely user-friendly packaging and labelling of small parts and the clear instructions.

The only downside of this machine is that it may not fit very short folks; if you are short, try one before buying.

I use the bike as cross training workouts rather than walking on the treadmill all the time. It's been a great addition to my workout options. Though it's not a huge problem, the lack of a lighted display makes it a bit more difficult to read than lighted displays. I feared the worst in putting it together but experienced just about the best - the directions were easy to follow and it went together quite easily. I'm glad I chose this bike!!

We use the bike several times a week when we are unable to exercise outside. It does the job, great work out. My complaints are it could be easier to adjust the seat- it is a twist ball, hard to use when you are sitting on the seat. Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

This is my first recumbent bike after using an upright stationary bike for 4 years. It has taken a little getting used to, as I tend to want to sit forward. However I think this type of bike is better for my back and I am becoming used to sitting flush against the back of the seat. The lumbar support is great! I mainly use the manual program as once the resisitance level is set on the pre-set programs it can't be changed except to re-set each block segment. I really like the results that are listed after each work-out. I try to challenge myself to pedal faster and longer and burn more calories. I wish there was a cumulative tally kept on the mileage---it would be fun to see how far I pedal during a month or year. All in all, I think this is a very good product!

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

Purchased the Schwinn 230 after a lot of research. It was worth the time I spent and the money. The bike is solid in every respect. It's hallmark is how quietly it operates. It is also easy on the lower back, and the walkthrough opening between the seat and handlebars was perfect for the wife because of her bad knee. The programs are entirely sufficient for us since we are not looking for entertainment while riding. The only problem we've had involved a popping noise that has cropped up twice while using the bike. Customer service advised that we take off the pedals and put them on again to remove air bubbles that may have gotten caught in the screw threads. While this advice sounded odd, it did solve the problem. If I had to make a recumbant bike purchase in the future, I'd opt for the Schwinn 230 once again without hesitation.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

I bought this cycle for my dad, who is 81. He says it's a lot more comfortable and smoother than his regular exercise bike and uses it for about 20 minutes a day to elevate his heart rate. The bike isn't as "high-tech" looking and doesn't have a lot of the goodies like other bikes on the market, but for my dad's purpose, the bike is just fine. The bike had fairly good directions and was easy to assemble. My only complaint is that the box was in pretty poor shape when it arrived and extremely heavy. Luckily, there was adequate padding in the interior so none of the parts were damaged or scratched. For the price, this bike is a good value.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

A recumbent bike was recommended to me by a physical therapist as being the best exercise for my condition requiring low-impact exercise. I have arthritis in my knees and had arthroscopic surgery last year. This bike with its step-through design allows me to easily get on and off. I'm glad I got the more deluxe model with the fan and better screen as well as more programs. The seat is very comfortable and I love all the programs. I have a sense of well-being after riding and experience no pain in my knees. None of the above descriptions of myself applied so I checked "Rarely work out". Actually, I ride the bike 4-5 times a week and take short walks almost every day.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

My husband has been in therapy following knee replacement and was using one there and we thought it good to have one at home as well. This one is much smoother and more comfortable so he now does that part of therapy just at home.

I was using the treadmill two to three times a week but after using the recumbent bike I was hooked. It is much easier to use and get more exercise in less time. We've since gotten rid of the treadmill and I'm on the bike. We'd recommend it to anyone.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

I use it about 5 times a week, and approx 30 minutes each until I build up my stamina, at which time I will increase the duration and probably level from L03 to L04.

I think the cup/bottle holder could have been placed somewhere more convenient to access.

I'm still trying to get used to the programming of it, i.e., selecting the various programs that are available. I wish there was some way you could change programs mid-stream...from manual to ramp for example, and also to change levels without having to stop, reprogram, and start over. Even pushing yourself beyond the time limit that you originally set would be nice without having your results displayed at the end and having to start over again.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 230 Recumbent Bike:

My wife and I both use the bike, but with different settings. So each time we use it after one another we need to go through the training type/time/weight/level. It would be nice to hit one button and the memory would recognize more than one user as, e.g., user 1 and user 2, so when hit the number all of the settings would automatically adjust to that user.
